The Palos Verdes Farmer’s Market is small and quaint as far as farmer’s markets go, but it certainly doesn’t lack for variety.
Located at the Peninsula Shopping Center at Hawthorne Boulevard and Silver Spur Road, the market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. And while it isn’t the biggest farmer’s market around, you will still find a variety of fruit and vegetable vendors, a handful of prepared food stands, and often others selling a variety of items like flowers or jewelry. There is definitely a lot of variety packed in one small parking lot.
Beyond the fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and raw foods you would find at any farmer’s market, what stands out about this market are the hot food stands. This is where you will find a bonanza of eats, like crepes, hot dogs, bacon-wrapped sausages, kettle corn, Thai food, Indian food, tamales, fresh baked goods (muffins, bread, cookies) and roasted peanuts.
The favorite for many is the homemade salsa stand that is made while you’re ordering.
If you live in the area, this farmer’s market is a must-go. Where else could you buy homemade tamales, fresh swordfish, flowers and some fresh veggies, all while munching on Brazilian BBQ, in one trip to the same place?
It’s pretty likely you will find what you need at the Palos Verdes Farmer’s Market, and because it’s small, if you become a regular the vendors will know you by name.
